Lake Tahoe has beautiful ski destination such as Heavenly Mountain Resort, NorthStar California, Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley among others that are state of the art and built with a high taste. They are designed to suit personal taste of their guests and their families ensuring that they are comfortable and get the best experience of skiing from Lake Tahoe.

Squaw Valley Ski Resort in California at http://squawalpine.com is one of the largest ski areas in the US and was the host site for the 1960winter Olympics. The resort attracts an estimate of 600,000 skiers a year. Tourists at the resort have access to their facilities which include roller skating, dining and pool among others. In 2012, Squaw Valley resorts joined forces with Alpine Meadows to offer a wider range of activities and longer distance for the skiers to get an adventure of a lifetime.

Alpine Meadows is found on the northwest shore of Lake Tahoe and offers an approximate 2,400 acres of skiable terrain. It is tucked between Truckee and Tahoe City making it a destination for families and friends. It has various terrains that allow beginners and advanced skiers to enjoy skiing.

It is an annual event that covers 10-20 km trail challenge from Squaw Valley to Alpine Meadows. The event brings the community together and also offer scholarships that help talented skiers and snowboarders who are in need. The plan to build a Gondola that connects the two resort is a welcome relief for the skiers, as they no longer have to make a drive from one resort to the other. The gondola is set to operate in three parts starting at the bottom of Squaw Valley, over the ridge between the two valleys and down to Alpine Meadows.

The efforts put into place by the two resorts are likely to result in holding more skiers and more national and annual events. Lake Tahoe is thus one of the best vacation destination for any family during winter.
