Whenever a person is pondering the idea of hiring you or your company, the first thing they are going to want to do is conduct a little research on they are going to be working with. By reading your Wikipedia page, they will be able to find out your age, years in the business, success stories, degrees and everything else in between. If you choose not to create a page, you might be looking at an hour long conversation with the individual looking to hire you or even worse, you may lose out on the job opportunity.

Sieze the Day the Susan McGalla Way
Aug 24th, 2015 by zuma

Keeping up with the Jones’s in today’s marketing and business scenarios can be a road to frustration – especially for intelligent females who want to be recognized as true professional business women without all of the gender-related guff. After all, what business woman really wants to keep up with the Jones’s anyway? Autonomy, efficiency and confidence provide a better recipe.

Take a gander at one very inspirational business woman who gets it. From a young age, Susan McGalla perhaps unsuspectingly, began her lifelong journey into the world of business. She didn’t start largely. She wasn’t born with a silver spoon. She was brought into this world with a (family) dynamic of love and courage. Two brothers and a football coach for a father, with parents who understood what it meant to be true-to-self and others, gave Susan her drive and desire to man-up in life alongside her God-given stature of femininity. For Susan, there was no gender issue when it came to being her best.

McGalla, originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, received her BA from Mount Union College. From there she confidently embarked into the working world of the Joseph Horne Company department stores. It wasn’t long before McGalla fearlessly found herself walking-the-walk into a popular, male-inspired company called Eagle Outfitters, Inc. What could a woman have to offer in such an environment? Change. Growth. Success.

Focusing on hard work while almost subliminally, yet substantially encouraging cultural acceptance meant the business world and the world as a whole was changing right before our eyes. McGalla smartly trekked up the corporate ladder becoming president and chief merchandising officer donning four brands, the P&L, an e-commerce website and a $3B revenue count to boot. While choosing not to impress the business world with dominance or feminine charm, McGalla had at least one clever personal rule: never be the last one to show up at the morning business meeting.

As a speaker, consultant and founder of P3 Executive Consulting, LLC, McGalla marches ever-forward spreading the good news of unspoken equality by way of savvy attitude, composure and a deeply rooted understanding of being a team player. Talent management, branding and operational potency are only the tip of the business woman’s dynamic iceberg of information on getting ahead, regardless of gender.

Perhaps the best part to McGalla’s story is her lack of concern to prove to the world that women are some kind of minority or majority. Susan’s legacy comes from the heart. She shows us what being a grounded example of basic hard work and perseverance can do for us all.

Business men and women everywhere have equal opportunities to bring their best gifts to the table. Each certainly has good cause to emulate the pioneering footsteps of Susan McGalla. If there was ever a time to fly the American flag, it would be now. Susan McGalla, we salute you. She is not only a truly an exemplary business woman. She is an icon of what this great country of America proudly stands for.

The Inspiring Life of Entrepreneur Marc Sparks
Jun 1st, 2015 by zuma

For someone that begin his early year of schooling as s C student, Marc Sparks has become one of the most of the successful entrepreneurs of this time period. He has managed to inspire others, and I am one of the people that have found inspiration through all of his success in telecommunications and venture capitalist endeavors.

What Marc Sparks represents is a strong leader that perseveres. He has actually had a firm hand in more than 60 businesses in his lifetime. This provided Sparks with a lot of opportunities to fail and succeed in many different types of businesses. Sparks has used this to motivate a lot of his employees. People at businesses like Blue Jay Wireless wanted to work under his leadership because he had a track record of success. He would also be able to help Splash Media workers obtain a vision for success with his diligent work ethic. Sparks would use his skills in business to move beyond telecommunications though.

He never believed in staying stagnant, and this is what I like the most about his business leader skills. Marc has shown that he has the ability to take risks. Taking risks is impressive in a leadership role, but making risks pay off is even more impressive. That is what Marc Sparks has been able to do. He transitioned from telecommunications to real estate. This is a totally different business from anything that he was doing with wireless and phones. This would not stop him from learning and thriving in this business though. He would also go on to invest in auto insurance companies and a plethora of other business solutions that he managed to capitalize on.

Everything that he touched didn’t turn into gold, but Sparks continued to research  and gain knowledge. To me, this is the most powerful thing in all of his business ventures as a venture capitalist. He learned lessons and is currently working on a book in which he shares the ups and downs of the business world. He truly believes that anyone can become success in business, and his book lays a road map for skills that entrepreneurs need to obtain success.

It doesn’t matter what the business is. Marc Sparks has been willing to throw his hat in the ring if he believed that there was not some opportunity to reap rewards from this. This attitude makes his life inspiring to many people.

Marc Sparks Makes Moves
Apr 30th, 2015 by zuma

The environment in which professionals conduct business can be just as important as the business itself, PR Newswire. For more than ten years, Marc Sparks of Timber Creek Capital, LP has been at its original location providing excellent service as a serial entrepreneur and owner of a private equity firm. Sparks and his colleagues have aided in entrepreneurs developing business ideas from mere dreams to substantiated profitable companies.

When questioned about the relocation of such a well foundationed business, Sparks was quoted as saying, “The process of starting a business begins with building a business model and acquiring the resources to ensure success.” Marc Sparks went further to explain his reasoning. “With the design of Timber Creek Capital, LP we are able to host three different companies in our facility and offer an extensive incubation period. As a serial entrepreneur and student of what it takes to succeed in this world, I have found that a quality, conducive and collaborative work environment is no less than 25% of the overall ingredients necessary to succeed. For example, would you thrive better or be more inspired with your office in a warehouse where the windows were blacked out due to the sketchy (but up and coming)neighborhood or on the first floor of a retail space on 5thAvenue (NY) with lots of windows and successful people walking by? Obviously these are two extremes; however, the point is to remember NOT to cut corners on where you and your team spend most of their waking time as it truly can mean the difference between success and failure.”

With such a vivid example and dozens of successful companies under his belt, Marc Sparks has hit the gold mine on what it take to make sure an office has the proper flow and structure to become successful. “They Can’t Eat You.”, the title of Marc’s book, dives into the his successes and failures. While being so illuminatingly candid, Marc shares his realities of entrepreneurship. His experience led him to start his very own businesses, Timber Creek Capital, LP. The firm encompasses his 35 years of unparalleled leadership and unrivalled experience when it comes to starting and managing businesses. T.C.C., L.P. stands to help aspiring business owners by entrenching them with sustainable business practices and ethics. By taking on a few companies at a time, Sparks offers them resources to banking, marketing, capital, office space, all while mentoring them. Mark Ahn Interview on Entrepreneur Podcast Network
Apr 9th, 2015 by zuma

I was checking out the Entrepreneur channel on the E Podcast Network and was super excited to find a new interview with Mark Ahn, who I wrote about back in January.

Mark Ahn, Principal of Pukana Partners, Ltd., a consulting firm in the field of biotechnology, says a promising future lies ahead for the entrepreneur. Ahn cites upward trends in digitalization and app technology as well as the globalization of capital markets to support his prediction. However, he recognizes the drawbacks of post-recession cautions and the avoidance of entry into the start-up economy by those sustaining high student debt and inexperience. In an interview with Eric Dye, of Entrepreneur Podcast Network, Ahn discussed attractive opportunities in life science technologies referring to what he calls the three Bs of this rising industry; bench, to bedside to business model. As mounting trends shift patient care focus from large-scale pharmaceuticals and clinical trials, using one-size-fits-all research and development, new biology concentrates on patient-specific or designer drug production and treatments.

Ahn speaks of “great science” that can trigger genetic switches to turn off or impede negative processes and turn on a patient’s own ability to fight and conquer. Mark Ahn explains one particular method, as in the case of MPS 1, or Hurler Syndrome, in which a patient’s blood is drawn, selected cells are isolated, corrective DNA is added and grown outside of the patient’s body, then re-infused helping them to produce their own corrected protein. Such personalized medicine has the ability to provide remarkable results in chronic, complex and even ultra-orphan diseases such as the above.

Ahn suggests that as patients gain access to a growing range of tailor-made treatments the businesses supporting them must also change, from the giant pharmaceutical model to that which is more patient centered, thus providing fertile ground for the pursuit of new biology and wide-open opportunity for the life science entrepreneur.

Elon Musk Suggests Worldwide Internet as Gateway to Mars
Jan 19th, 2015 by zuma

Elon Musk, the science fiction reader’s dream come true, is launching a SpaceX office near Seattle – and with that comes lofty goals and bold promises.

“One day I will visit Mars,” Musk told the crowd at the launch event for the Redmond, Washington office of his aerospace firm. A fantastically wealthy entrepreneur like Musk knows that such an objective will require money (and lots of it), so along with the thrilling declaration of the long-term goal comes a shorter-term method to fund it all: the launching of thousands of geosynchronous satellites that can reach all around the world, providing high-speed Internet access anywhere on the planet.

His ideas are enormous in scope, but Musk has shown a surprising ability to deliver on those ideas: SpaceX has been in the headlines several times in the recent past for their effort at establishing a privatized presence in space. With figures like Musk, a company like SpaceX, and a feasible movement toward worldwide high-speed Internet, it’s hard for Bernardo Chua not to believe we’re living in a powerful age of change and growth.

Company Brings Wireless Charging Without Mat
Jan 6th, 2015 by zuma

The major hurdle facing portable technology has always been the battery. No matter what type of technology gets developed, users like Keith Mann are always searching for power cords and chargers to keep the units functioning. Even companies that promised wireless charging still required users to place devices on charging mats; however, one company is looking at getting rid of both the cord and charging mat at the same time.

According to Engadget, Energous has a found a way to wirelessly charge devices from up to twenty feet away from what is essentially a power router. The company refers to the technology as WattUp, and it utilizes a bunch of different wireless signals and some new technology to locate a specific phone or tablet to send power directly through the airwaves. Imagine never having to plug a device in again, because that type of mindset could be very possible over the next few years.

The technology deserves a standing ovation, and with a 2016 premier date firmly set Energous should be a company to watch. Of course, the wireless power technology does not just apply to phones. Remote controls could take advantage of the tech, and so could toys, appliances, lights, and a ton of other things laying around the average home. The company has poured a lot of time and money into this technology, but the deciding factor will likely be the same as always. It always comes down to cost for the user.

NSA has your number
Dec 30th, 2014 by zuma

More documents have been released concerning the NSA’s ability to spy and unlock cryptic code to spy better on you, me and the world in general.(http://www.spiegel.de/international I think we all know that the NSA has been spying on us for a long time. If you don’t know this than the rock you live under is a very comfy place and I want to move in with you. The world we live in after 9/11 is a hyper-sensitive place to do business. There is not much that goes on that our Government does not pay attention to. I do not have a problem with this at all.
I find it intriguing that somebody or some organization wants to know what I had for dinner yesterday and what my shopping habits are in general. It makes me feel not so alone anymore. Along with my Skout membership this could be great. I might just make some computer data guru’s day by how much Captain Crunch I consume in a month. So all the social media users out there be aware that the NSA is unlocking the cryptic messages your sending the “other girl”. The messages that your social network of choice has led you to believe are safe. I would word my messages very carefully from now on. Make no references to things that could be construed as a threat to homeland security. I think I’ll be ok with the Captain Crunch thing, but who knows..

U.S. Defenseless against North Korea’s Cyber Assault
Dec 17th, 2014 by zuma

With movie theaters fleeing click here from Sony’s upcoming movie The Interview, America appears defenseless against foreign cyber-terrorism as threats and hacks continue unabated. An in-depth and apparently overwhelming assault on Sony’s e-space has led to declining company stock values as embarrassed executives struggle to manage a likely state-sponsored attack. The outcome is becoming clearer that North Korea has won as theater chains across North America dump the movie. The Interview is a fictional comical farce about two media klutzes who accept an insane assignment to kill North Korea’s leader.

Businesses face an unknown threat that has effectively neutered one of the entertainment industry’s titans. The U.S. Government appears to have no response to what is effectively an attack against U.S. persons on American soil. It may be that state-sponsored hack attacks have become so numerous that national security capabilities are overwhelmed. Top analysts from BRL Trust are not ruling out that North Korea may have already won their undeclared Sony War.

Chains dropping The Interview include Cinemark, Regal, AMC, Bow Tie and Cineplex. Though the U.S. government has so far failed to identify the origin of the attacks on Sony, the assault is focused on fictional comedy featuring a fictional North Korean plot complete with fictional North Korean characters. If there is no negative outcome for cyber attacks against the United States and its persons then expect these assaults to continue swarming into the nation’s unprotected cyberbelly.

Microsoft Gets into Bitcoin
Dec 16th, 2014 by zuma

Microsoft is a company which many view as being on the decline, especially with the rise of other options such as Apple products and Linux. That its glory days are over. However, there are those that think the company isn’t going down but simply going through a period of change.

To support their claims, they cite its recent venture into the world of the Bitcoin. They are now legally accepting Bitcoins as a currency for the purchase of games and other products. I was reading on College Niche how apparently, the tech giant has formed some sort of alliance with the company Bitpay and they are working together to make the system work.

This was only hearsay until recently when Microsoft admitted the partnership. Their reason was that they wanted to give their customers more choice in how they did business. But unfortunately, it isn’t a direct system, the Bitcoin must be transformed into currency contained in the Wallet feature of your Microsoft account.

This is definitely a new direction in e-commerce. The new cyrpto currency has been as controversial as it has been successful. However perhaps it only takes one corporate leviathan to give the system the boost it needs to become more acceptable in the mainstream. We will just have to wait and see what happens next. So if you have a couple of extra Bitcoins lying around, you could choose to invest it in an Xbox One game.
